After an amazing week in Tasmania we continued to Sydney. From the tranquillity of Tasmania, we bumped right into Mardi Gras 2020, which was held just that weekend in Sydney.
We spend just 3 days in this beautiful city – strolling around Darling Habour, Taronga Zoo and chilling at Manly Beach.
The last 10 days of our journey we traveled around the southern parts of Queensland. From Brisbane we drove to Sandstone Point where we spent one night just go get settled with the next campervan.
The next day we went to the Glass House Mountains – a fabulous landscape with old volcanos. After a hike to the top of Mount Ngungun with its amazing 360 degree view , we explored the world famous Australia Zoo in the afternoon.
Hervey Bay was our next stop and of course, we went on a guided day trip to Fraser Island.
The little town of Bargara was our next stopp for 2 nights. Here we wittnest the first storm for this autumn and were on an amazing night-tour att the Mon Repos turtle centre to see loggerhead turtles hatching from their nests at the beach. Absolutely worth a visit!
Due to unstable weatherconditions we decided not to drive further north. Instead we went back to the campsite at Sandstone Point near Brisbane and chilled at the pool, besides one short trip over to Bribie Island.
The last day on our trip we spent exploring Brisbane and Mt Coo-Tha lookout.
These were som really exciting 4 weeks of travelling. And now, 6 month later, while writing this with the knowledge of all the Corona crisis and shutdowns worldwide – we´ve been so lucky to be able to do this trip and come back home savely!
