Right in between the worst fires in Australia for decades and the worldwide Corona shutdown, we were lucky to “squeeze” in a 4 week trip to Australia and Tasmania.
We startet our holidays in the beautiful city of Melbourne. After one day around the city we picked up the campervan and headed for the coast. First stop – Kenneth river. There we woke up to the company of some sleepy koalas right at the campsite.
We continued along the Great Ocean Road via Apollo Bay and Cape Otway to Gibsson Steps, before we arrived at Port Campbell.
The next morning we started with a stroll along Lord Ard Gorge, before we took off for a helicopter ride along the Twelve Apostles and London Bridge.
Around lunchtime we left the coast and drove towards lake Colac. On our way we stopped for a walk in the rainforrest to the Triplet Falls. We spend the rest of the day in the small town of Colac with it´s beautiful botanical garden. There we “met” huge flyging foxes and pelicans at the nearby lake.
After one night at the campsite in Colac we went to Ballarat where we spend the whole day cuttling koalas and kangaroos at the Ballarat Wildlife Park.
The day after it was already time to drop off our campervan again and say goodbye to Victoria. We spend the afternoon again in Melbourne before we left the Australian mainland for Tasmania.
